In this send-up of the old Universal monster movies, Baron Victor von Frankenstein tries, against all odds to perfect his “creation”. Unfortunately his only “success” to date is a mute monster who can double as a lamp. Adding to his misery is his inept assistant Igor, a terrifying German housekeeper, and his wife who is tired of the gloom and constant rain. To make matters worse, an odd assortment of “guests” arrive at his castle to remove their various curses – Count Dracula and his beautiful-but-bored vampire fiance, the Wolfman, and the Phantom of the Opera. This ridiculously horrific comedy is sure to be more treat than trick. |

Beach Boulevard & 26th Avenue South
Beautiful Downtown Gulfport, Florida
Rounding out the 2008-09 season of "Live Theater for the Movie Generation" is Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning darkly comic drama Crimes of the Heart. Three sisters of very different natures are preparing for the passing of their grandfather. Lenny, the oldest, is unmarried and facing diminishing marital prospects. Meg, the middle sister, has returned home to Hazlehurst, having left the small Mississippi town to pursue a career as a singer. Babe, the youngest, is out on bail; she shot her senator husband in the stomach. Chick is the straight-laced and judgmental cousin. Doc Porter is Meg's former boyfriend who still carries a torch, and Barnette is the young lawyer working to keep Babe out of jail while falling helplessly in love with her. Director Bruce Beresford's award-winning film version included Diane Keaton as Lenny, Jessica Lange as Meg, Sissy Spacek as Babe, Tess Harper as Chick, Sam Shepard as Doc Porter and David Carpenter as Barnette.
